The Bi-Level home is a split level house with staggered floor levels. Bi-level is two short sets of stairs, one running upward to the bedroom level one running downward toward a basement level. The basement is usually finished off and used for family room or living room. The middle/main floor has the kitchen and formal living room or dining room. These homes are not popular in Florida, because nobody wants stairs!
The benefits of a Bi-Level or Split Level home is maximizing the interior space with a smaller footprint for foundation. Split level homes were very popular in the 70’s and 80’s, maybe motivated by the high interest rates the worlds saw at the time…you know the highest mortgage interest rates American’s paid was almost 20%…Can you believe that? Research it for yourself.
